The Assasin (On hold) Empty The Assasin (On hold)

Post by Shiningwater Sun Feb 02, 2014 12:14 am

((This character is just for this topic, I think. He probably won't show up again. Red is the new character's thoughts/point of view.))

I've stalked my quarry long enough. I know everything about her. Her likes, her dislikes, her strengths, her weaknesses, her powers, and her secret. I know enough about her to know, she must be exterminated. The black-clothed human stalked her quarry through the woods, completely silent and hidden. He watched as the cloaked figure turned around, none of her features visible. But the cloaked figure knew what was hidden under that cloak. A monstrosity, a horror, a vermin. Something to be exterminated. He leaps silently at the figure as she turned around again, away from him.

Luna whipped around as the wind changed direction, bringing a new smell towards her. She roared as the figure landed on her, the force throwing her hood back, exposing her dragon head. She snarled, her hand glowing as she brought a log towards her, hitting the figure on the back. A short grunt sounded from the figure and he pushed Luna's hand towards the ground, it made the log move lower to the ground. Luna's eyes widened, she never told anyone about that. She roared as the figure pulled out a knife. He brought it down, towards her head. She froze for a moment, then rolled quickly out of the way. She heard a solid thunk as the man drove the knife into the wood. She let out an odd gagging noise as the figure grabbed her hood, pulling her back to the log. He put out a foot, tripping her and she fell over backward, her head smacking against the log. She blinked the stars out of her vision as a hand pressed down on her throat, keeping her pinned.

The half-dragon's eyes green eyes glare at me, and-I must say-I'm surprised to see no fear or worry, only anger and hatred. I narrow my eyes, matching her stare. My hand is pressed against her neck, my knife drawn back, ready to end her.

((Please don't kill the person right away, the point is that he's a pro, it'll take a lot.))

The Assasin (On hold) Empty Re: The Assasin (On hold)

From the darkness of the forest, a lone shadow watched the black-clad human as he stalked his prey, a cloaked figure - possibly female -though he could not be sure. He'd followed them for sometime, commanded to do so by his master. He did not understand why, but it was unwise to question the Nightdragon once he spoke his will.

Suddenly the the assassin was armed and leaping towards his victim, knocking her - yes, it was a her -  to the ground and knocking her hood back, revealing the head of a lizardman. No, not a lizardman but a...Half-Dragon! So, the girl was a half-dragon. This well explained the Nightdragon's interest in her, as well as it redefined Barak's mandate.

Materializing out of the shadows in the manner of a wraith, the Nightdragon's Fury threw forth his hand, projecting a bolt of purest magic which hit the assassin square in his chest and knocked him back, slamming him into a nearby tree.

"Away with you, Knave!" The Dracomancer declared, his voice a self-absorbed whine. "You attack one under the protection of Nefarious the Dread, but you shall not harm her! I will not allow it!"

The small red pseudodragon resting its master's shoulder shrieked in agreement, darting towards the assassin and stinging him repeatedly with its poisoned barbed tail, then returning to its perch.

The Assasin (On hold) Empty Re: The Assasin (On hold)

Luna coughed as the weight on her throat disappeared. She glanced in the direction of the assassin, who appeared to be winded from a powerful burst of magic. She rubbed her throat, coughing as she pushed herself up off the log as she glanced at her rescuer. She pulled a confused face as he mentioned something about Luna being under his protection. She blinked as a small red shape leaped off his shoulder.

I let out a gasp of air as something hits me int eh chest, away from my quarry. I narrow my eyes at the man who had just appeared. He then unleashed something at me, a small red dragon .I had seen them before, they have a poisonous tail. But I'm not worried. He can only reach halfway up my lower leg, where some of my thickest armor is. His tail cannot pierce it. I grin under my mask, pulling an array of knives from belt and flinging them all at the man.

Luna gasped as the figure threw a flurry of knives at her rescuer. She lifted her hand from where it was rubbing at her neck, a blue light surrounding it. The blue light reached the knives and the froze midair, hovering. A twitch of Luna's hand sent them into the ground. She ginned as the assassin's eyes widen. She turned to her rescuer, pulling her hood up over her face again. "Thanks for the help, but I think we're even now." She hissed, turning away from him and her attacker. Her hand had returned to where it was rubbing by then. She let out an occasional cough as she walked away.

The Assasin (On hold) Empty Re: The Assasin (On hold)

[[The purple represents the voice of the Nightdragon, speaking through his servant, Barak Thal-Zud.]]

Barak Thal-Zud was impressed by the half-breed's display of magic, but he was not surprised. It would be unthinkable that the Nightdragon should bid his high priest to risk his life for a weakling.

"She has potential, this one." He said under his breath, more to himself than to anyone else.

As the dragon-girl once more hid her features beneath the shadows of her hood and started to walk away, he turned to regard the assassin for a moment. He could sense the man's wonder at what he had just witnessed, and he knew that the unfortunate soul had broken the killer's golden rule. Never let yourself be taken by surprise.

The Dracomancer called upon the powers granted him by his master, and a swirl of black gaseous fog began to exude from the pours of his skin, permeating the air around him. Judging by the assassin's suddenly relaxed posture, he deduced that his spell had taken effect.

"Sleeeeeeep!" He hissed in old Draconic. "Sleeeeeeep! That your betters might converse in private!"

Immediately the man slummed to his knees, his mind no doubt wracked with fatigue. Soon after he fell face down upon the earth, unconscious, but still very much alive.

Seeing that his charge had moved away several paces, he hoped his spell would soften her heart enough to hear him out. Melding with the shadows again, he reappeared suddenly right in front of her.

"Greetings, Dragonborn!" He said with a sweeping bow, the pseudodragon on his shoulder mirroring him in response.

"I am Barak Thal-Zud...and this is Anaxes." He said, nodding at the small red dragon.

"I come before you now bearing a offer from my mast-" Suddenly the half-elf's smoldering emerald eyes became like pools of black ink and his high-pitched voice suddenly a low monotone growl.

"And that will be quite enough of you." He said, as though he were speaking to himself.

He then regard Luna for a moment before speaking.

"Forgive the intrusion, but I must apologize for my associate. He tends to blather on and on, his words carrying no real meaning. I fear he relies too much upon his powers to do the persuading for him, not seeing that you are dragon and thus such paltry magics will have no effect on your mind."

He continued. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Nefarious the Dread, whom mortals call the Nightdragon. I have been watching you for sometime, and recognizing your potential, I come before you now with an offer. Join me. Take your place at my side, and I will show you wonders beyond your wildest imaginings. Serve me. Not as a mere servitor, like the one standing before you, but as an agent of my grand scheme."

He nodded to the assassin lying unconscious behind her. "That man, the hired killer who attacked you, the world is filled with his ilk. Small minded men who fear what they cannot understand, not recognizing true glory when it stands before them. So they hunt us and they kill us and they destroy us where we are found, not seeing that they should fall their knees and beg us for our mercy. But is not just us that they hate, no, not just the Dragons. But the Elves, the Ra'zoul, the Mages, the Vampires, the Werewolves, and every other old thing which has existed since the dawn of time. They are but maggots, feasting upon the carcass of a dying world. A world which they themselves have destroyed!." His tone was suddenly angry. "I offer you an opportunity to stop it. To put an end to the destructive habits of men and usher in a new world, a world ruled by dragons! And why should we not rule? After all, we are the true elder race! We were there at the foundations of time, when the world was young and hot and new. We were there when it all began, no doubt we will see the end. But that dose not have to be today. Join me and let us take back what is our by right! What say you?"
