Just a whim

Walking through the busy market place nobody gave Sonya a second glance. There was a race of winged elfs so nobody thought her crimson red wings suspicious. Little did they know she was a half breed of the natives.

Sonya was here on indulgence whims. She wanted a strong flavored fruit and she was going to get it. Browsing through the stands she found what she was looking for. Grabbing a fruit off the stand and walking away the owner didn't say a word, but he was freaking out. Sonya used her magic to merge his lips together. The spell would wear off in 30 minuets. In the mean time Sonya chowed down on her fruit and scanned the shops and stands looking for something that would catch her eye.

Malthael was in the market of all places. He didn't mind it, for he liked being around the inhabitants of Iota. He enjoyed the feeling of being accepted. It was a feeling that he rarely got to experience.

Malthael walked through the market. He was looking for some blood potions, as he needed them for long trips. He was in short supply and wanted to replenish his stock. As he wondered around, he saw something out of the corner of his eye. He saw someone steal food and make off with a few fruit. He chuckled to himself as he saw what happened. He walked by another fruit stand and bought a basket of delectable fruits. He then walked over to Sonya and sat the basket down beside her. "You shouldn't steal you know, but who am I to judge?" Malthael smiled and then introduced himself. "I am Malthael. You can have all the fruit in this basket if you want. What is your name?"

Sonya was still looking for anything that she found interesting when she was approached by a captivating human. It wasn't very often Sonya thought of a human as anything more than ugly and useless skin bags of bones. The man placed a basket of fruit beside her and introduced himself before saying the basket was hers and asking her name. Sonya gladly picked up the basket. "My names Sonya." She replied before circling around him. "So what's a guy like you looking for in a market like this?" Sonya asked before stopping in front of him again.

Malthael looked at the curious little creature. She seemed to be intrigued by him instead of frightened. Was it his charm? Maybe she was naturally more curious than most. Either way he didn't care, for he liked the fact she wasn't frightened of him. Malthael smiled. "Nice to meet you Sonya," Malthael stated. "I am here for blood potions. I am running low." He wondered how she would react to his statement.

"Blood potions? Are you a vampire?" Sonya asked. She hadn't ever met a vampire before but she had heard her father tell stories of vampires that attempted to suck their blood only to awaken the phoenix due to the vampires screams of pain as the boiling hot blood burned their insides giving them a rather painful death. "I'd be careful if you plan on taking my blood. I'm no elf."

Malthael chuckled a little, "Yes I am a vampire. Although, I am a vampire lord... and a rather special one. That, however, is a tale for another time." Malthael sat down on a nearby chair stretched out his legs. His massive six foot frame wasn't easily comforted by these tiny chairs made for other creatures. "I do not drink the blood of magical creatures my dear. Only the blood of mortals. I have; however, drank the blood of a dragon before. It was... interesting to say the least. That was only because my friend at the time helped nourish me in a time of need." Malthael stopped for a moment and then looked back at Sonya. "So what is a beautiful creature like yourself doing in the market stealing food for? Are you homeless?" Malthael wasn't sure of her situation, as he could only infer from what he had witnessed.

Sonya was most impressed by his claims. She wondered how on earth he got past those hard scales they had. Perhaps he went for the wings. The fact that he considered her a magical creature meant he knew what she was. Yet he didn't seem bothered by it. Then again he wasn't normal himself. Sonya hated how quickly the man was able to sum up her situation. She was technically homeless and she hated being reminded of that. Not wanting to admit it Sonya chose to lie something she was very use to doing. "I was nearby and wanted to see if this city had anything interesting for sale. I just picked up a snack while I browsed." Sonya replied. Her lie was mostly true. "I don't suppose you've seen anything that might capture my interest have you?"

Malthael listened as she responded to his inquiry. He could hear her heart skip a beat or two when she spoke. Some of what she had said was a lie. He wasn't sure exactly what part was the lie, but it didn't matter. He wasn't going to press the issue, but he would still offer her a place to stay if she so chose. Malthael smiled at her question, "Well I guess that would depend on what you find interesting," he stated. "I myself love the art they have around here, but it still pale's in comparison to the art I have in my castle. Even so, I do occasionally find a few rare items worth my interest," Malthael said with a smirk. He then adjusted his position and said, "The castle I mention isn't far from here. You would be a welcomed guest. If you want, I could have my cooks whip us up a nice dinner. You could eat all you wanted." Malthael was trying to be subtle about his offer of hospitality. He wanted her to make the choice on her own.

Sonya was no fan of art. She was more interested in magical artifacts which unfortunately were hard to find since only people who knew at least a little about earth magic could create them. The natives of Iota seemed to be the only ones that could shovel out magical items the likes of which have never been seen before but the natives had no desire for stuff with the exception of the greedy dragons. They never made thing for themselves though they always took it from others. Sonya didn't like dragons. She considered them arrogant beasts.

Malthael offered Sonya a place to stay and eat and Sonya didn't deny it sounded good. Even if she was being lured in for her blood he would regret it if he tried. In any case Sonya wasn't concerned about his motives and she had nothing better to do so she though why not. "Sure." She said. "I wouldn't mind a free dinner. Remind me your name again. Was it Michael?"

Malthael was glad Sonya accepted his invitation. It did, however, surprise him. Many wouldn't dare accept such an offer from a vampire lord. He could tell she was brave, despite his pure intentions. He chuckled as she tried to remember his name. It was a mouth-full to be sure. He then affirmed, "Yes. It is Malthael. You can call me Mal for short." Malthael then posed a question, "So what exactly peeks your interest? I collect magical items as a passing hobby. I also paint and play music. What are some of your hobbies?" He wanted to get to know her. Something about her intrigued him.

Sonya listened as he correcter her though he made is seem like it wasn't a correction. She appreciated the fact that she could just call him Mal. After telling her his hobbies Sonya was only more interested in visiting his place. She decided not to tell him she liked magical items. "I enjoy messing with people's lives." Sonya replied. It was the truth too. She loved screwing with people it gave her infinite entertainment.

Malthael smiled at her answer to his question. "Messing with people's lives huh? That is indeed a good pass-time. Although harmless pranks are usually not what I do. I am more of a... manipulator of sorts. I like to see conflict in relationships. Stirring up trouble between lovers is very interesting indeed." Malthael chuckled a bit. "Human lives are the easiest to manipulate. That are almost too predictable, yet the still seem to entertain me even if it is for a short while." Malthael then looked and asked her, "So what exactly are you? You know I am a vampire lord... but I am still unaware of what you are my dear." Malthael was very polite to Sonya. He was actually being himself for once.

"I'm afraid I can't tell you that. You may be a vampire but in this city there are plenty of vampires that mull about though I doubt any of them are lords. Nobody minds their presence as long as they don'e cause trouble and only drink blood from blood potions. However if I were to reveal my true race I'm afraid I wouldn't be very welcome here anymore."

Malthael looked down. Cracking a smirk the then stated, "I understand. We can discuss that more when we don't have prying eyes and ears all around us. What do you saw we find some trouble to get in to before we head to my castle? I still need those blood potions anyways." Malthael chuckled a little. He really hadn't have fun in a while. Especially with another person. This might be more interesting that he had originally thought.

Sonya's lips curved upward in a smile at the thought of causing trouble and mischief. She was beginning to really like this guy. He looked good and he knew how to have fun. "Causing trouble is my profession and hobby of course I'd like to have a little fun." Sonya replied. "lead the way." She encouraged him.

[OOC: sorry for tiny post being a bit lazy at the moment.]

Malthael smiled, "Well what kind of mischief do you fancy? What are some ideas you have?" He then looked over at a couple in the market. They were elves, shopping together. The man looked less than interested and his wife showed a hint of irritation. Malthael pointed to them and whispered, "What if we get them fighting? I wonder how it would play out?"

"I normally like more complex michtief that destroys people's lives but this would make a good warm up." She responded as she listened to the way the man talked. Once she was sure she had his general voice and speech patterns down she used magic to project sound into the woman ear that only she would be able to hear. The sound sounded like the mans voice "Show some interest you ungrateful skank." The voice said. The woman was immediately outraged. Sonya just sat back on enjoyed the show. "Hows that?" She asked the vampire.
