I don't like the cold

Post by Astral on Thu Jan 09, 2014 12:29 am

Once Astral finally found the village of Kryo which was hidden in the vast stretches of icy waste land, she landed and a put her cloak on. Ever since they entered the icy climate Astral has been forced to use her magic to keep Eroan and herself warm. Yet another weakness Eroan didn't know about. Since she had been keeping him warm this whole time he probably didn't know he was cold blooded now. As they walked the finally stretch to Kryo with their cloaks on Astral couldn't help but pester Eroan some more. "Soooo you decided if you want to stay like this yet?" Astral asked him. She really hoped in the end he would decided yes. She also hoped he would say yes before it was too late. It was still a long ways to Iota and once they were there it would still take them awhile to find the things Astral needed to make the spell she put on Eroan permanent. Astral turned her gaze to the village which wasn't too far away now. From a humans perceptive they were probably visible.

Re: I don't like the cold

A swarm of bats flew across the icy terrain. A tad out of place for bats, but no one would really care too much. Even if they did, it wouldn't mean much. Malthael had traveled here to find leads magical activity in the region. He knew Kryo wasn't exactly the most hospitable of places, but any leads were good to him. He was also a bit peckish from his journey. He hadn't fed all day and was starting to get hungry. He needed to feed if he was to complete his journey and get back to Iota. Malthael was in his swarm of bats form, when he saw an oddity. He saw a traveler alone, but they were cold blooded. He could sense this being the vampire he is. "What would something like that be here?" Malthael decided to investigate. The swarm of bats whizzed around Astral and Eroan before finally taking the form of Malthael. He stood before them, puzzled. "I have seen many things in my time, but you are defiantly not one of them. I am Malthael. Who and what are you?" He was interested, which was rare. Few things actually interested Malthael so this was a treat.

Though he did not know where they were going he followed after Astral since she knew where they were going. When she landed he did too, landing not far from her before he slips his cloak on like she had done. This was the only part that he did not like about being half dragon, having to put the cloak on to hide his appearance. He went from being a prince to being a person forced to wear a cloak in order to go into settlements. Though he had thought he would feel cold coming here given he had no clothing on he felt warm even though they were in a cold place, unaware he was now a cold blooded creature. As he follows along side her he listens as she brings up the topic of him staying like this. Shifting his gaze, he glances to her for a brief moment and lets out a soft sigh. She still pressed the issue though he was not sure if he had an answer for her. Before he could answer her question Eroan took notice as a swarm of bats began to encircle them for a moment before they gathered together and took the form of a man. Looking at the man that stood before them his gaze narrowed into a frown as the man spoke to them, making it apparent that he knew they were not human before introducing himself. Not sure what to do, he glances to Astral for a brief moment before turning his gaze back to Malthael " We are but simple travelers on our way to Kryo.. " He says while looking at the man, wondering if he was going to be trouble or if they could get past him without any trouble.

Eroan only sighed in response to Astral's question. She knew that meant he still hadn't decided. Astral really hoped he would decide soon because if he didn't decide in time it would be too late. As they walked towards the village a swarm of bats came and circled around them. Astral thought it strange there were bats in this climate. Her thoughts were brushed aside when the bats formed into a man who asked who and what they were. It was obvious he knew they weren't any of the common races. Before Astral could give any sort or reply Eroan replied for them. Astral wondered why the man had stopped them. She hoped he wasn't here to cause trouble. Astral didn't think Eroan would be to happy about her killing the man right in front of him. Astral's hatred for the natives of Eroan had not waned any. She was still perfectly fine with killing people now as she was before she met Eroan.

Malthael peered at both of them. He could hear their hearts beating. They palpitated at a quick pace. 'They are scared,' he thought to himself. Malthael hated humans, but actually cared for other creatures. Malthael looked over at Eroan and then back to Astral. "You know it is a bit rude to not introduce yourselves, even if talking to an enemy. If you are scared of me, you need not be. I am not of these lands, nor do I care why you are here. I am only curious as to why would cold blooded creatures be in a frozen place like this? You see, cold blooded creatures don't do well in the cold. Actually, they hate it because of how their body works. So, you must have a very important quest before you if you are going to brave this cold." Malthael stopped talking for a moment. He then looked back at the settlement that was just barely in sight. "This is a dangerous place and you might could use my help. Mortals here aren't exactly the friendliest of beings," Malthael stated with a slight smirk. "I could offer you protection from here to your destination. It might give me the chance I need to find magical items in this region." Malthael waited for their responses.

As Malthael begins to speak again, Eroan frowns faintly at his comment. Indeed he had not introduced neither of the two which was something he always did before given his upbringing. Having been changed he knew he could not let that upbringing slip away, he was still raised as a prince and was a prince even if he were now half dragon like Astral. What Malthael had to say about them being cold blooded made him raise an eyebrow at the thought, he had not felt the cold really since they ahd been there so he figured they were not cold blooded. Shifting his gaze, he glances to Astral for a moment before turning his gaze back to Malthael as he continues to speak, offering them protection. Though Malthael had offered them protection, Eroan was not sure if they needed it though he would leave that choice up to Astral. " Forgive me, I should know better. I am Eroan and this is my companion Astral. " Eroan says, introducing him and Astral to Malthael " Our destination is the village and I believe we can defend our selves though I leave the choice of your aid up to my companion. "

How this man was able to detect they were cold blooded Astral didn't know. Eroan gave his name do the strange as well as her own. She didn't know why he felt obligated to do so and she didn't know why he had to tell him her name. Eroan even seemed ok with being escorted by a stranger. "No your protection isn't necessary and your mere presence is is aggravating. Leave now or I'll remove you from our path." Astral said while growling under her cloak. Astral didn't even to realize she was growling it was just an instinct one that would hint at her bestial nature.

Malthael looked at them both. He could tell they were both becoming agitated by his presence. He sighed for a moment, and then looked back at them. "Spare my your idle threats. If you say so, I will leave you to it then. I should be getting back to Iota anyway. I hope you enjoy your journey." Malthael turned to walk away, but then he heard several heartbeats nearby. He also smelled there stench. It was humans. Eight bandits gathered around Malthael, Astral, and Eroan. The leader walked up to Malthael and demanded, "Give us your money or you die." Malthael chuckled to himself. "What's so funny," the bandit leader asked abruptly. "Oh nothing," Malthael stated while trying to restrain his chuckle. "It's just your ignorance is too funny," Malthael said aloud. The bandits were more than irritated by this point. The leader then demanded, "Kill him!" Malthael smiled and looked back at Astral and Eroan. "Don't interfere," He told the two. "I love it when my food fights back," Malthael said with a sadistic grin as he bared his fangs at them. "He's a vampire," one of the bandits exclaimed with a fearful tone. Malthael then went into a blur. He ripped their heart's out, all but one. The bandit leader stood there speechless, whimpering. He knew he couldn't run. Malthael then walked over to him and said, "Now what to do with you?" Malthael paused, "I think you will be my meal for the day. After all, you don't deserve to die quickly. Robbing innocent people, not to mention killing them when you are done. Let's see how you like being the prey." Malthael then quickly blurred over to him and bit into the leader's neck. He tried to scream but couldn't. All he could do was gasp for air.

After he was done, Malthael looked back at Astral and Eroan. "I am sorry you had to see that," Malthael said. "I try not to do that in front of people. Usually I have blood potions, but I am out and humans I don't mind feeding on." He then waited to see how they would react.

Re: I don't like the cold

As Astral spoke, Eroan glanced to her for a brief moment as she declined the offer for protection. She seemed to grow angry at Malthael. Though he thought he could calm her down, he did not try and stop her from growing angry. Hearing Malthael speak he listens to the man seeing that he had no problem with her declining his offer. Though he had not been a half drgon for more then a day he figured Astral could protect them for the most part and he still new how to fight in some ways just not as a half dragon. As Malthael begins to walk away he watches him for a moment, figuring they could be on there way however a group of bandits swarms them and at first he started to take action however Malthael advises against it so he waits, letting the man deal with the bandits. He glances to Astral for a moment before looking back to Malthael and watches as the man dispatches the bandits in a matter of moments, ripping there hearts out. Shifting his gaze from Malthael, Eroan covers his mouth as he groans lightly. He didn't think the man would rip the bandits hearts out, that was rather crule or at least he thought it was. Then again he figures he would have killed them if he had to fight them, or Astral would kill them. Eroan keeps his gaze off of Malthael as he dispatches the leader of the bandits. With Malthael apologizing he finally looks to the man and shakes his head faintly " .. No need to apologies. " He says as he looks at Malthael, now understanding why he knew they were cold blooded, he is a vampire.

Astral was happy the man was going to leave but she figured it was a trap. She could hear and smell the bandits approaching. Astral didn't even take the time to listen to what Malthael said. She just took of her cloak and began tearing into the bandits slicing their throats open with her claws. Astral had killed most of them but Malthael had dealt with the leader. Once it was all over Astral lunged and tackled Malthael to the ground while growling loudly. "It can't be a coincidence a stranger comes out of nowhere decides to leave then bandits show up out of no where in this frozen waste land not to mention you're a vampire. If I wasn't so confused I'd kill you know. What is going on?" Astral demanded. Astral was very confused both at Malthael's actions and his heritage. Though he was a vampire he was still human. She didn't know if she should hate him or not.

Re: I don't like the cold

Malthael had just gotten through draining the leader, when he was ambushed. Looking up, he saw the very person he was trying to defend, lashing out at him. Interrogating him from a very awkward position, Malthael sighed for a moment. He was disappointed. He had such respect for other creatures, but she had lost a good bit it in his eyes. Turning into a mist, the mist formed an apparition of himself. It was intangible, yet still visible. Peering at her he said, "You disappoint me. You are as quick to judge and assume as a human is; and here I was trying to help you both out." Malthael looked at Eroan and then back to Astral. "Number one," he said politely; "I am a vampire, humans hunt vampires. Plain and simple; not to mention this is a dangerous road so bandits are common." Malthael paused for a second, "Number two, I am not of this land. I am of Iota and I protect the creatures their. I am just away on some leads I was following. Number three, You can't kill me. I am no ordinary vampire. Not to mention I am over 1000 years old. You killing me would be slim to none at best. Number four and lastly, if I wanted you dead; I would have killed you already. I am stronger, faster, and immortal." Malthael then looked at the both of them, "Also, if you think bandits are the worst things out here then you are wrong." Malthael; still in his mist form, became flesh and blood once again. He then added, "I am leaving now and going back to Iota where the natives actually need me. At least they are grateful for my help in defending their homes and families." Malthael then scoffed and adjusted his coat. He then picked up his sword and began to walk off; mumbling under his breath.

Astral was outraged. This vampire had just compared her to a human. Along with stating she is insignificant in comparison to him. His last comment about Iota made her believe he is even more of liar as the Iota natives don't need to defend themselves they are never under attack they are always the ones doing the attacking to defend their land. It seemed obvious to Astral this vampire had no idea the affairs that went on in Iota. Astral held back her own anger though. She didn't have time to kill people. "Eroan we're changing course and going to Iota!" She was not going to listen to any objections he had. She took of into the air and headed for her home land.
